After a passive plaque formation period and an active ligature induce peri-implantitis period: A) An implant wearing uncoated zirconia abutment shows a bone resorption process that forms a crater defect and reduces bone-to-implant contact level to the macro-threads zone of the implant. B) An implant wearing G3 glassy coated zirconia abutment undergoes an evident lesser bone loss limited to the micro-threads zone and does not display the typical crater shape bone defect associated with active peri-implantitis.
