These estimates have been calculated using root I_max values as a cut-off (I_max value is used where soil fluxes exceed this value). Where soil fluxes are lower than I_max, soil flux values have been used. This data has been calculated from 40 replicate measurements for each treatment. Error bars are standard error of the mean.
