Luteolin reverses IL-6-induced EMT of PANC-1 and SW1990 cell lines.

Notes: Two cell lines were treated with IL-6 at 100 ng/mL for 72 hours in FBS-free media and in the last 24 hours luteolin was added to reach a concentration of 80 μM. (A) Fold change in mRNA expression of CDH1 (E-cadherin), CDH2 (N-cadherin), Snail, vimentin, and ZEB1 in SW1990 cells. (B) Fold change in mRNA expression of CDH1 (E-cadherin), CDH2 (N-cadherin), Snail, vimentin, and ZEB1 in PANC-1 cells. (C) Western blotting assay was performed to determine protein level of E-cadherin, N-cadherin, Snail, vimentin, and ZEB1; GAPDH was used as an internal control. (D) Morphological change of SW1990 and PANC-1 cells after treatment. Data represent mean ± SEM, n=3, *P<0.05.

Abbreviations: mRNA, messenger RNA; SEM, standard error of mean; STAT3, signal transducer and activator of transcription 3; IL-6, interleukin-6; EMT, epithelial–mesenchymal transition; FBS, fetal bovine serum; GAPDH, glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase.
