(A) Beta-tubulin-immunoreactive (-ir) fibers (red) run throughout the extraorbital lacrimal gland. (B) Vesicular acetylcholine transporter-immunoreactive fibers (green) are also present throughout the extraorbital lacrimal gland. (C) The vast majority of beta-tubulin-ir fibers also contain VAChT immunoreactivity (arrowheads), although there were a few examples of beta-tubulin-ir fibers that did not contain VAChT (arrow).
