Biopsy specimens(A-E) were taken from the overlying cortical tissue (A, B), the marginal enhancing tissue (C, E), and tissue at the center of the tumor (D). The locations of these biopsies are represented on the MRI shown above. Image and histopathology parameters are defined for each biopsy sample. Images of the whole-mount pathology slide for specimens A and E are shown. The distinction between relatively normal cortex and tumor tissue is visible even at low magnification.
