(b) Due to lateral extension of SPBs in a string, potential felt by an approaching SPB features a barrier and a local minimum like in the DLVO theory. The ratio of deformation energy scale U [equation (7)] and the Hamaker constant was tuned such that the potentials in panels a and b are monotonic and non-monotonic, respectively.
