A homemade computer-controlled microdensitometer constructed to digitize electron micrographs. The two-dimensional stage was driven using two stepping motors controlled by a mini-computer, and the optical path of a Nikon shadowgraph was reversed to illuminate only the small area to minimize the Schwarzschild-Villiger effect.38) The lamp was driven by a stabilized direct-current power source for constant illumination.
