Serum was used without dilution or after dilution with 50 mM Tris, pH 7.4, and 50 mM NaCl, either 5-fold or 10-fold. The prion solution with 1 pM for recovery test was prepared either in undiluted serum or in the diluted serum. Error bars show the standard deviations of three parallel experiments.
