Wild-type MTB H37Rv bacteria appear as long rods of uniform size, while the starved mutant MTB bacteria are spherical and irregular in size. The mutant MTB bacteria gradually elongated with the period of incubation with the inducer pristinamycin, until the rod-shaped morphology similar to that of the wild-type MTB was recovered.
