Activation of inflammatory/immune mechanisms during larval stages. Microglia in 4 dpf gba1+/− and gba1−/− had an increase in shape factor (sphericity) (P < 0.001 for both) indicative of microglial activation (A). Additionally, the number of vacuoles in gba1−/− was increased by 40% compared with the values observed in wild-type (WT) controls (P < 0.0001) (B).
