(a) qRT-PCR results after cell lines were treated for five days with 5-aza-CdR. Basal-like cell lines with methylation of the miR-29c promoter had statistically significant higher expression of miR-29c after treatment. Expression of miR-29c was not increased in AU565, a luminal cell line with low methylation of the promoter. (b) There was no statistically significant difference in expression of microRNA let-7, which is not known to have promoter methylation, after treatment of 5-aza-CdR in UACC3199, a basal-like cell line.
