Six to eight week old CD-1 ICR mice were infected with 1x10⁹ O104:H4 2011 c3494 wild type (n = 10) or ΔlpfA1 (n = 10). Their weight (A) fecal shedding (B; expressed as log CFUs/g) were monitored for 7 days. On days 4 and 7, ceca (C) and large intestines (D) where collected and bacteria recovery is expressed as log CFU/g of tissue. Error bars indicated SEM of 5 or 10 mice.
