NBM system supports MM growth as efficiently as coculture models using MSCs or osteoclasts. Luciferase-expressing MM cell lines (INA6, ARP1) and patient MM cells (maintained by passaging through SCID-rab mice; Pt#15) were added to coculture models (MSCs only, osteoclasts only, NBM system); MM cells cultured alone (no BM cells) served as a control.
