Midbelly specimens were excised from the tibialis anterior (A) along the fiber direction (vertical arrow), loaded, and tested in a material testing system with thin film grips (B). Samples were cut into rectangular strips and the apparent dog bone shape (B) is a result of tissue compression at the grips and not changes in cross sectional area with sample length.
