Spirochetes were inoculated at a dose of 105 either intradermally (i.d.) or intraperitoneally (i.p.).
All mice were euthanized at 3 weeks postinoculation. Isolation of spirochetes was attempted from the skin site of inoculation, ear pinna, tibiotarsal joint, heart base, and spleen. Infectivity experiments were conducted two separate times.
