Summary of glucan phosphatase activity against polyglucan substrates. Soluble phospho-glucan substrates (phospho-oligosaccharrides and solubilized amylopectin) are dephosphorylated directly by the DSP-domain. Complex, insoluble polyglucan substrates (starch, image at left) must be engaged by the CBM before dephosphorylation can occur by the DSP-domain. The inset at right depicts the glucan phosphatase PTP-loop, which contains a CζAGΨGR motif necessary for engaging glucans at the catalytic site.
