Comparison of the rate of phenylethanol generation using particles modified with hydrogenase, NAD⁺ reductase and ADH (▪) or hydrogenase and NAD⁺ reductase supplying ADH in solution (○). Each experiment was performed in H₂-saturated buffer solution (50 mm Tris-HCl, pH 8, 2 % DMSO, 22 °C) that contained NAD⁺ (1 mm) and acetophenone (10 mm). The samples were left in a shaker vessel (500 rpm) with H₂ flowing through the headspace. At specific time points aliquots were removed and analysed by HPLC.
