Dox enhances the levels of mtDNA. (a–d) ATPase 8 and cytochrome c oxidase subunit II (COX II) genes encoded by the mitochondrial genome was amplified and quantified by real-time PCR using the SYBR green chemistry on the Applied Biosystems 7300 real-time PCR system. Total DNA was extracted from HCT116 WT and HCT116 Bax^−/− cells treated with DMSO or Dox (10 μM) for indicated times. COX II (a and b) or mitochondrial ATPase 8 (c and d) gene-specific primers were used to amplify, and values were normalized to actin or GAPDH.
