(a) Transversal gradient force evaluated for different particle radii, for a reflectance R = 0.23. The change in the particle size reveals an observable shift in the transverse gradient force equilibrium position away to the peak of intensity giving rise to an annular ring region of stable optical trap. (b) Particles with radius smaller than 4 μm are stably trapped in the center of the Gaussian beam on the beam axis. (c) Particles with radius larger than 4 μm are stably trapped in an annular region around the beam axis.
