Proposed signal pathway of high glucose on the regulation of miR-145 and Klf4 and myocardin for proliferation and migration in vascular smooth muscle cells. High glucose increases Ang II expression and Ang II through angiotensin receptor downregulates miR-145. miR-145 downregulates Klf4 and Klf4 downregulates myocardin expression, finally causing smooth muscle cell proliferation and migration to promote atherogenesis.
