Blue rectangles delineate the repeating regular five-tone pattern of medium-pitched (M) and high-pitched (H) tones (denoted with the dashed line). The width of the bars depicts tone duration (short and long). The green rectangle is the low-pitched (L) tone that is presented randomly and creates a pattern deviant (task-relevant for the INF-DV condition). Tones were presented once every 1.1 s. Participants discriminated sound duration in all conditions (two-alternative forced-choice task) by pressing one of two response keys.
