Uptake of atenolol by selected drug transporters. The uptake of 1 μM atenolol in transporter-expressing (filled) and control (unfilled) HEK293 cells was measured. The uptake was measured after a 2-minute incubation at 37°C. Data are presented as the mean ± S.D. Uptake in transporter-expressing cells was compared with that in control cells (**P < 0.01; ***P < 0.001).
