Induction of ROS by TYMS inhibitors promotes apoptosis. Apoptotic indices in HCT116 cells in response to 48 hours of treatment with TYMS inhibitors (10 µM FUra, 100 µM FdUrd, or 1 µM RTX), either alone or in the presence of 10 mM NAC, were measured by TUNEL assays. Apoptotic indices were expressed relative to untreated cells.
