Immunohistochemical staining of NANOG, mutant p53, and CD44 in OSCCs. a Serial sections of moderately differentiated OSCC specimens show moderate expression of NANOG and CD44, and positive expression of mutant p53. b In higher magnification fields of serial sections, NANOG is detected mainly in the nuclei but is also expressed in the cytoplasm of some tumor cells. Mutant p53 is detected in the nuclei of tumor cells, while CD44 is localized in the membranes of cancer cells. The arrows indicate the co-expression sites of NANOG, mutant p53, and CD44 in OSCCs.
