Induced pluripotent stem cells remain in cell clusters in 3D gels. (A) iPSCs in 3D constructs at 28 days remain in cell clusters. Some clusters demonstrate fibroblastic outgrowths, but these are not specifically aligned to the direction of force (arrow). (Bi) In contrast, H&E-stained sections of ESC 3D constructs after 14 days demonstrate that the majority of cells are at the edges of the gels and are evenly distributed.
