The study consisted of two conditions (pain and no pain) and three stimulus types (intact scene, arm only and face only), and involved a mixture of between-subject (group × condition) and within-subject (condition × stimulus type) analyses. Painful video stimuli are exemplified by screenshots (at the bottom of the figure) taken from video clips produced for this study.
