Reduced expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) transcripts in BDNF^Met/Met mice. BDNF transcript expression levels were analyzed by quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR). BDNF^Met/Met mice showed lower levels of BDNF-4 and BDNF-6 compared to BDNF^Val/Val mice. Expression levels were normalized to β-actin and Gapdh and expressed as a percentage relative to BDNF^Val/Val mice. Data are presented as mean ± standard error of the mean (n= 6 independent biological replicates). Student’s t-test, *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01.
