MPTP metabolism in the midbrain and striatum is not diminished by pretreatment with VIPR agonists. Quantification of total MPTP and MPP+ levels in μg/g tissue in the midbrain (A) and striatum (B) of mice pretreated with VIP, LBT-3393, or LBT-3627 followed by MPTP intoxication. Tissues were collected at 90 min after the final MPTP injection. Differences in means (±SEM, n = 5) were determined where p < 0.05 compared with groups treated with MPTP only (a) or VIP (b).
