BL21/pA-xylBC, strain BL21 star(DE3) expressing C. crescentus xylose dehydrogenase and xylonolactonase; BL21ΔxylAB/pA-xylBC, knockout of native xylA and EcxylB while coexpressing C. crescentus xylose dehydrogenase and xylonolactonase. Data were obtained after each strain was induced for 24 h in liquid LB medium supplemented with 5 g/L of xylose.
