Quantification of PQ-9 and Tocochromanols in Arabidopsis Leaves.

Reverse-phase HPLC was used to analyze total lipids in the leaves of 3-week-old wild-type (WT) and fbn5-1 plants grown on MS medium (+1% sucrose) ([A] and [B]) and in 6-week-old wild-type and transgenic plants grown in soil ([C] and [D]). The quantities of individual tocopherols, PQ-9, and PC-8 were determined relative to standards. Asterisks represent significance relative to the wild type by Student’s t test: **P < 0.01 and ***P < 0.001. Data are means ± sd (n = 3 to 4). N.D., not detected; FW, fresh weight.
