Higher scores on the Picker PCC summary scale indicate more favorable perceptions of care.
Model 1 includes age at admission, education (3 category ordinal variable), minority racial background (y/n), and general health status (5-point ordinal variable).
Model 2 includes history of cancer (y/n), history of CHF (y/n), history of dementia (y/n), highest serum creatinine level, heart rate at admission, systolic blood pressure at admission, pain symptom count (1–3; chest pain, chest pressure, radiating pain).
Model 3 consisted of 1 variable: was subject already an inpatient when AMI occurred (y/n).
Model 4 includes all covariates from models 1–3.
