Decreased persister levels in ΔureG, ΔsdhA, ΔsdhB mutants under organic acid stress (acetic acid). Overnight cultures were diluted 1:100 in TSB medium containing 80 mM acetic acid. The parent strain USA500 was included as a control. The survival of the (A) ΔureG, (B) ΔsdhA, and (C) ΔsdhB knockout mutants and their complemented strains was estimated at various time points of treatment. The error bars indicate standard deviations. ^*indicates significant differences in comparison to the parent strain (p-value < 0.05).
