Decreased persister levels of ΔureG, ΔsdhA, and ΔsdhB mutants under heat stress (57°C). Stationary-phase cultures of the (A) ureG, (B) sdhA, and (C) sdhB mutants, complemented strains and the parent strain were incubated at 57°C for various times, and the number of CFU was determined by plating serial dilutions of bacteria on TSA plates. The error bars indicate standard deviations. ^*indicates significant differences in comparison to the parent strain (p-value < 0.05).
