Proton delocalization in the H-bonding network of the intermediate state of KSI.3 In the intermediate state of apo-KSI, protons delocalize among the three tyrosine residues in the active site, leading to an unusual acidity and a large H–D pKa isotope effect of the tyrosine cluster.
