Estimated telomere length of familial melanoma cases relative to the telomere length of the case with the longest telomere. Adjustment for age and sex makes minimal difference to these results because of the limited age range of those recruited so these are the raw estimates from bioinformatic analysis of whole exome resequencing data [19]. Each sample reflects the germline DNA from a melanoma case also with a family history. T1 and T2 refer to the 2 tested samples in Fig. 1 with the TERT promoter variant.
