24-hour stress experiments were conducted at 29°C (A–C) or 31°C (D–F). Hatching of eggs laid by mothers cultivated at different temperatures is shown in (A) and (D). Fractions of adults that recovered live progeny within 5 days after the end of exposure are shown in (B) and (E). Fractions of those same adults that laid eggs during exposure are shown in (C) and (F). Significance levels were calculated using the Mann-Whitney U-test with the Bonferroni-Holm correction for multiple testing (*p < 0.05, **p < 0.01). Error bars represent ±1 SEM.
