Fluorescent cell loss “extinguished” counts from slices during treatment with several concentrations of MeHg over 30 minutes. Cells extinguished when they lost significant fluo4 fluorescence between time points. Fluo4 fluorescence loss was occasionally associated with visible lysis of cells, so presumably all fluorescence loss is associated with cell death. In comparisons between each concentration of MeHg and the untreated control, no comparisons were significantly different (P > 0.05).
