Observation of CO₂ partial pressure during the 50-min period in each sweep gas flow step with an ECMO blood flow set at 1500 mL/min. During the baseline, the blood flow was 5000 mL/min and sweep flow was 5.0 L/min. With a fixed ECMO blood flow, lower sweep flow gas is associated with a progressive increase in PaCO₂ values.
