Promotion of strand exchange by ScRad52. Reactions were carried out as described in Materials and Methods with three different oligonucleotide substrates the G·C contents of which were 16%, 37%, and 50%, respectively. ScRad52 protein (1.5 μM) was preincubated with the three different single-stranded oligonucleotides at 20 μM for 5–10 min at 37°C. Double-stranded oligonucleotide (2.5 μM) containing a 5′-³²P-labeled minus strand was added, and incubation was continued at 37°C for 40 min.
