rs7747909 and rs10484879 in IL-17A were found to be associated with AMD in the NEI cohort (p < 0.05). After logistic regression on the dominant model ({dd or Dd} vs. DD), correcting for age, smoking status, and gender, only rs7747909 in IL-17A had a p-value less than 0.05. rs7747909 did not replicate in the AREDS cohort.

Abbreviations: AREDS: Age-Related Eye Disease Study, CI: Confidence interval, FDR: False discovery rate, HWE: Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, MAF: Minor allele frequency, NEI, National Eye Institute, OR: Odds ratio.
