Lovastatin induces growth inhibition in breast cancer cells. MDA-MB-231 (A) or MDA-MB-468 (B) cells seeded in 96-well plates were treated with different concentrations of lovastatin (LV) and cultured under normoxia (21% O2) or hypoxia (1% O2) for 48 h. Cell proliferation was analyzed by measuring fluorescence at 560/590nm after the addition of the CellTiter Blue cell viability assay reagent. * P < 0.05 compared with the control.
