f+1 is the number of positive samples with expression values larger than EP j, f+2 is the number of positive samples with expression values less than EP j, f−1 is the number of negative samples with expression values larger than EP j, and f−2 is the number of negative samples with expression values less than EP j. When X i,j equals EP j, and Y i belongs to positive sample {+}, f+1 and f+2 increase by 0.5 respectively; when X i,j equals EP j, and Y i belongs to negative sample {−}, f−1 and f−2 increase by 0.5 respectively
