IR-induced mitochondrial ceramide accumulation is attenuated in SIRT3-deficient mice. Mitochondria were purified from the WT and Sirt3 KO mouse brain hemisphere ipsilateral (IR) and contralateral (Con) to the damage following 1 h of MCAO/24 h of reperfusion. Ceramide species (A) and total ceramide (B) were measured as described under “Experimental Procedures.” Data are means ± S.E., *, p < 0.05, n = 16.
