Squid-filled, unbeveled recording electrodes give high-quality recordings. Spikes are clean, and lateral pyloric neuron inhibitory postsynaptic potentials are clear in intracellular recording. Comparison with high ionic strength recordings (see Fig. 15, in which the intracellular recording was made with an unbeveled electrode filled with 6.5 M KAc) shows no noticeable differences.
