The sequences for mature miR-196a-2 5p and 3p are underlined. The polymorphism site is indicated by grey highlighting. The T/C polymorphism is located in the stem region opposite to the mature miR-196a-2 sequence and results in a change from a G:U to a G:C pair in the stem structure of the precursor.
