Effect of axitinib treatment on P. berghei infected mice. Survival rate and parasitemia (inset) of C57BL/6 a and Balb/c b of P. berghei infected mice either not treated (blue filled triangle) or treated (red filled triangle) with axitinib. Treated animals received from day +1 post-infection a daily dose of axitinib (25 mg/kg i.p.) over a period of 5 days. The parasitemia was determined by Giemsa staining, and microscopic examination of thin blood smears from individual mice was taken at regular interval from day 2 to end point (time of culling).
