Pentamidine improved contractility in model flies. Cardiac function parameters of short- and long-CUG-expressing flies fed either with DMSO [CUG(20)× D and CUG(250)× D] or pentamidine [CUG(250)× P], in comparison to controls. Pentamidine did not modify heart rate (HR, A), diastolic interval (DI, B), systolic interval (SI, C) nor end diastolic diameter (EDD, E) in model flies but strongly reduced end systolic diameter (ESD, F) in these flies, resulting in a relevant increase of fractional shortening (FS, D). Graph bars show the mean values and their standard errors (n used was between 14 and 30). **P<0.01, ***P<0.001, ns, not significant.
