Model of integrin trafficking in an engulfing cell. Our results suggest that cell-polarity proteins polarize the microtubules; Shot and Clasp bind to microtubules and shuttle αPS3/βPS to the apical surface. Clasp might also bind to the Golgi and reorient it so that newly synthesized αPS3/βPS is shuttled to the apical surface. Once at the surface, the integrin heterodimer can signal through Talin and Pinch.
