4-PBA inhibits cell apoptosis in the skin flap of rats. Pretreatment with 4-PBA decreased the number of TUNEL-positive cells induced by ischemia-reperfusion injury. To estimate the number of TUNEL-positive cells, the TUNEL-positive area was determined using National Institutes of Health Image software.
