Experimental data (○) are shown for comparison; note that the model was not fit to all of these data, but rather was based on limited data shown in Figure 7. As expected, the model predicts that there would be no change in active stress generation at the optimal stretch if the vessel were “adapted” at the optimal stretch (cross-over of horizontal and vertical lines), consistent with the experimental findings.
